Walmart summoned Rain (Chelsey, Leslie, Chris, and I) to Arkansas again this year for their annual Shareholders Meeting. Chelsey and I got to go together this time! Girls trip! Leslie is a Rain employee, but lives in AR, and Chris was a Rain employee that lives in our NY office. It wasn’t much of a trip, more like work till you drop, but it was still fun since Chelsey was there with me!
I kind of knew what to expect after going out for Black Friday last year, but this was a whole lot more work! And longer. But the event was more fun, and there was a lot more excitement around the city. Chelsey and I got to work on some blog posts we did called Walmart On The Street, and designed infographics for the mediakit. Chelsey was in charge of the infographics, and I on Walmart on the street, although we helped each other with both.
For those who don’t know what Walmart Shareholders meeting is, its an event Walmart does every year where they have 1 Walmart associate from every Walmart store around the world to fly out to Bentonville, Arkansas for a week of concerts, baseball game, speakers, and the actual meeting held on the final day. They flew in huge entertainment such as Robin Thicke, Pharrell Williams, Aloe Blacc, Florida Georgia Line, Sarah McLachlan, and Harry Connick Jr. hosted the Shareholders Meeting. Chelsey and I had a backstage pass to all the events… but no, we didn’t get to meet any celebs. We were too busy working — either having our heads down on our laptops, or interviewing Walmart Associates: getting their quotes, taking their photos, etc. It was fun to interact with people from all over the world. My favorite were the ones from Africa.
It was another successful trip for Rain, with Walmart very pleased with what we accomplished there. Phew! The flight home was a little stressful though. It was a rainy day, and our flight got delayed an hour, and our layover was an hour. They told us we wouldn’t make our next flight but they were wrong! We sprinted through that airport to make our next flight just in time, and were able to get home to our husbands that we missed terribly!
